Firstly, I consider myself to be a good listener. For me it is essential to comprehend the person who is in front of me: This is particularly important when interacting with students.
My classes are tailored to my students' needs.
I believe quality is more important than quantity, and therefore I strive to ensure that any information I provide or any topic I discuss with students has value and potential for effective use in life. However, in order to be listened by the students, it is necessary to find the right method for this purpose. A very good way to achieve this aim is by being creative, by implementing new approaches and playful methods that allow the students to find the enough tranquility of mind first in order to subsequently find the right opportunity given by the righ environment so as to being able to engage personally with the topic at hand. I use this type of methodology both in linguistic classes and in classes with a defined theme (subject courses).
As for my teaching methodology, my lessons are mostly learner-centered, the way I prepare them seeks to encourage participation —this is obtained through activities that arise the learners’ interest—; it is a general purpose in my lessons to develop learner independence and critical thinking, thus great part of the lesson time is spent by using an inductive or ‘self-discovery’ method.
It is of paramount importance to me that the lesson I teach has a positive outcome, and because of this, I put a lot of effort into its preparation. If I notice something is not working, I do not mind stopping, and discussing it by asking and seeking advice; after all, the point is that each lesson achieves its original goal as much as possible.
I deem myself to be a decent reader, and this has always helped me for being up-to-date, and to better understand changes —especially in the education environment.
I also participate in teacher groups where we exchange information, materials, new teaching methods, and new ideas, which most of the time are very useful for my own classes. Whenever I have the opportunity, I like to enroll in courses (short diplomas) related to education, which are of great benefit to my profession.
I am punctual and I do pretend from the others to be punctual as well. It is an aspect that I find nearly impossible to negotiate.
It is worth mentioning that discipline and a healthy life make both a great contribution to my profession.
