A good teacher is the one that tries to be in the shoes of his students, in order to know their difficulties and understand them as to how he can help to improve their level of knowledge. I always make sure that students take full participation in class works so as to help them get acquinted with grammar and conversational abilities in the language.
There as so many ways to teach but what is important is it's effectiveness to yield result. Hence, your class should always be student centered but not teacher centered. There is the saying that practice makes a man perfect. So one should allow the students to do group work. They should work in pairs and in large group to learn from each other. this will also help to improve their speaking abilities as they try to engage in conversations.
It seems to me that before a teacher could yield good result in class with their students, they have have to always make sure that homeworks are being checked, done and corrected. This often urges students to do the right thing. On the other hand, it will lead to laziness and lurkerdaisical attitudes on the parts of the students which would subsequently generate low performance and inefficiency.
Games and fun activities in class always prevent boredom and unwillingness on the part of the students to work in class. It always catches their interest and attention. By so doing students tend to love our class as teachers and will not want to miss your class.
