¡Humblenesss is the rarest of all gifts! by Daniel Rodd

I'm just going to go ahead and say it, what you have is a gift. Pure gold! And that makes you very lucky! Welcome to the 1% club cha-ching! Or should I say the 99%?

While humbleness is considered to be a rare gift that's easily confused with something else entirely different these days, having an attitude aimed at listening deeply and learning actively is even more scarce than we'd like to think.

Here's why:

Being humble has very little to do with how you present yourself to others and how others perceive you. Truth be told, percetion changes all the time and can be easily manipulated, sold, fabricated, story told.

As an English teacher, former disc jockey, music producer and call center representative, I've had the chance to interact with a myriad of diverse personalities from different ethnic groups worldwide. This has allowed me to observe people long enough to understand them on a deep level while empathizing with a lot of them too. See what I did just there?

Despite my ability to socialize, empower and be a kind entertainer to the madding crowd, I strongly believe humility has a lot to do with spending a long time with ourselves and in solitude.

When we've experienced the "torture" that is solitude long enough, we get to see ourselves for who we really are. We learn to know who we are, how we think, how to declutter and correct thoughts, what really matters and how to let go of the illusions and instinctive hormone driven mass behaviour syndrome.

We have the ability to focus on what matters the most and do the things we must for ourselves and for others that we wouldn't normally do if it were not for what others will think of us or whether they'd give us their approval or not.

A humble person isn't measured by their social status or their net worth.

An inspiring person that's usually a role model to society instead focuses on learning more, doing better, being more productive and achieving meaningful things day by day and step by step, never thinking they've made it to the top.

What if I told you... there is no top. Well, that is until entropy has reached its maximum state, but who cares, by then we'll all be long gone and dead anyway!

Am I right Elon Musk?

We become more open to learning and to truly grow, when we're not motivated by pride or ego and definitely doing the opposite of getting ourselves worked up over nothing, taking protagonism and credit for other people's work or even becoming hyper inflated over mediocre things that already exist abundantly everywhere whether we are aware of them or not.

When it really comes down to it. Self steem, self concept and self worth are more connected to humility than ego will ever be. It's really the exact opposite of thinking you are better than someone else while belittling others who aren't you.

Don't get me wrong, you can be comfortable in your own skin, display superb confidence and still have zero need to compare yourself to others setting aside how useful it is to get a lot of references for research purposes in order to improve yourself more or learn about others' experiences around you to become a bit more, how should I put this...

By gathering enough raw data, correlating the information into categories and mind mapping your way towards being more knowledgeable, unbiased and insightful on any topic or subject of your choice, you'll understand that feeling of being grounded.
