English is one of the most important languages to learn. It will allow you to gather more information about the world, by being able to understand documentaries, read books, studies and understand what some very intelligent people have to say. Also with just being able to speak 1 language, doesnt matter what languages too much. But with only being able to speak one language, you supress your abilities to communicate with other human around the world, hear ideas and meet new friends. With hundreds of languages being spoken across the world, and English being the most widely spoken, it is very beneficial to learn it.
Me being born In England there was no real importance for us to learn another language (or so I thought). In England everyone speaks English, even the immigrants. So in our day to day life we only need to speak English. Then when I grew up I started to travel a lot. I then realised the more languages I can speak the more oppourtunites I will have work work and a better life as well as a plethera of other things. I am currently living in Colombia and my main reason to come here was to experience a different life properly and to learn Spanish. At first it is hard, actucally it's always hard, but the benefits are amazing, not only on the outcome of being able to speak another language. But the self accomplisment I will feel of trying and completing such a hard skill is something you can take forward with you into other aspects of your life.
