Working As An English Instructor for Civil Engineers

My first teaching experience in Madrid was teaching in the North close to the airport. The position is located in Nuevos Ministerios which is very close to the airport line in Madrid. The position includes teaching civil engineers idiom expressions, vocabulary, grammar practice, and conversation topics. The students are from multiple countries like Brazil, Spain, Portugal, and other countries around the world.

Cómo enseñar inglés a adultos y empezar a dar clases como profesor
Hay muchas personas que deciden empezar a estudiar inglés cuando son adultos. Ya sea porque lo requieren en el trabajo, debido a q...

The job is to help them with their conversation English. The reason is they need to communicate with other Civil Engineers in the Madrid Community. We start with a topic we all go over usually in philosophical conversations. We also discuss YouTube videos on certain topics such as social anxiety and how it affects our work and daily lives. Next, we go over certain grammar topics on simple past, present simple future tense, and much more.

There are two classes which I work with. One is an advanced class and the other is an intermediate class. The advanced class is more for conversations to keep their English polished and ready for meetings with potential clients and customers. As they are civil engineers they must communicate with other civil engineers in English to make their point across. However, it is not just engineers I work with in the advanced group. It is economists, HR, IT, and other related fields that one must use in their English.

The last group I work with is the intermediate group. This one is made up of IT professionals and Human Resources people. In this class we work on news articles with conversation topics. We also discover business idioms and phrasal verbs. Lastly we just have basic conversations and help to improve their grammer.
